Nora’s music-making experiences began very early being focused in church and gospel music and piano lessons. In New Zealand she continued music studies at Auckland University where she was invited to audition for the 50 Voice New Zealand Dorian Choir, conducted by Professor Peter Godfrey. She has also developed choral training by attending summer schools with the Royal Schools of Church Music and the Australian National Choral Association. In addition to this, she developed her conducting skills in workshops with John Hopkins and Jerry Nowak.

A teacher in Darwin for 31 years, Nora has been heavily involved in music in schools. While Principal of the NT Music School, she was the NT Manager of the Musica Viva in Schools Program, Music Director of ‘The Beat’, and more recently directed NT schools’ involvement with Music Count Us In.
